Fall has definitely fallen on us lately. As with most of the leaves on the trees thanks to the crazy wind we've been having lately. October is one of my favorite months (and Halloween is one of my favorite holidays!) We hope to spend some time this weekend getting more apples (it's apple pie season!), picking out a pumpkin so that I can carve another one of my jack-o-lantern masterpieces, and otherwise enjoying the crisp autumn air that I love so much.
I haven't posted much since September but I hope to get back into some sort of regular routine soon. Work has been keeping me busy (thank god!) and we have been spending most of our weekends doing fun stuff, so please don't think that I'm all in some sort of funk and that I'll never return to my lighthearted blog. I will return, slowly but surely. And although my heart isn't as light as it used to be, I'm working on that. I actually surprised myself by joining a bereavement support group that meets once a week until the beginning of December. They are a wonderful group of ladies and after listening to them (who are all in various stages of grief) and contributing my own experiences, I feel my spirits have been lifted by the end of our session. We'll see where my spirits are come the holidays, but for now, I am doing my best to carry on. I suppose that's progress, considering mom's been gone for almost a month already.
And my social calendar doesn't seem to have a break in it until closer to Christmas. Between halloween parties, B's birthday, our friend's son's first birthday party, wedding gown shopping with my best friend (who might not have the ring on her finger yet, but we're sure it won't be long now!) a surprise trip for dad in December... we've got some fun stuff planned. But for now I just keep taking it day by day.
